voice mail messages from unity are passed to MS exchange and left in the MTA queue. Unity and exchange exist on 1 server and exchange syncs with another exchange server which hosts all our mail boxes. MTA are not transfered to main exchange server. some times it works and sometimes it dosen't? Anyone have similar problems or know a solution?

Curtis R. Gregg

Are there RPC or RPC bind errors in the event logs on either the Unity server or the Exchange server in question? There's lots of reasons why the MTA may not be delivering out, snagging some error codes from the event logs would help narrow the issue down.

It would be interesting to test leaving a message as a test
subscriber homed on Unity sending a message to a user homed on the external Exchange system. If that went through then you'd know the issue was centered around the outbound messages from the Unity messaging system account. Not usually the case, however...

There's several articles out there on troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with the MTA. These often turn out to be a network connectivity issues and once resolved it
cleared things up. Here's an article on a couple simple tests you can use to rule out basic DNS or network connectivity issues:
