Hi All,

I am planing to upgrade our redundent nexus 7010 having redundent sup1, currentely running 5.2 to 6.2.12.

Can any one share the procedure for upgrade plan via ISSU. Any detailed document will be good help :-)

is it advisable to do via ISSU or via normal procedure considering no downtime or minimum downtime but short change window.

thanks,

Amar

See this link for the upgrade procedure:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/nexus-7000-series-switches/products-installation-guides-list.html

If it was me I would err on the side of caution and ask for a short change window just in case something unforseen happens during the upgrade.

Hey thanks Sean,

I was trying to find upgrade path ffrom 5.1.3 to 6.2.x but it doesn't give details. Document shows upgrade path from 4.2 to 5.2 & from 5.2 to 6.0..

I feel i need to upgrade twice if i have to upgrade from 5.1.x to 6.2.x

something like 5.1.x ==> 5.2.x ==> 6.2.x

and also prior to 5.2 ISSU doesn't support parallel upgrade..

thanks..

Amar

Hi Amar,

Did you complete this upgrade successfully via the 5.1.x ==> 5.2.x ==> 6.2.x path?

Thanks,

Kelly

unfortunately not yet due to pending approval.. but i have plan to follow below approach after discussion with TAC:

Recommended upgrade path:

5.1(3)  ==> 5.2(9)

5.2(9)==>6.2(8a)

6.2(8a) ==>6.2(12)

since i have Sup-1.. i will be using below image for upgrade.

System & kickstart Images :

Kick Start:

n7000-s1-kickstart.5.2.9.bin

n7000-s1-kickstart.6.2.8a.bin

n7000-s1-kickstart.6.2.12.bin

System Start:

n7000-s1-dk9.5.2.9.bin

n7000-s1-dk9.6.2.8a.bin

n7000-s1-dk9.6.2.12.bin

will share detail plan. only if it is successful :-)

Hi Renjith,

We still not upgraded due to pending approvals.

Thanks

Amar

Hi Renjith,

I successfully upgraded from 5.1.1 --> 5.2.5 --> 6.2.2a --> 6.2.8a --> 6.2.12 on a pair of 7010s.

Thanks,

Kelly

Hi Kelly
