Nexus 2K with VM environment

Can we directly connect ESX servers to Nexus 2K ? or do we need to connect Nexus 5K ?

Ananthan,

You can abosolutely connect an ESX/ESXi box to a Nexus2000/FEX.

What version of ESX/ESXi will you be running?

Yes, you will just use the parent switch in your case the nexus 5k to do the configurations. You would first have to set up the fex within the N5K then you can configure the ports as normal with switchport mode access etc... The interfaces are typically int eth 101/1/1 or whatever you used for the naming or the fex switch.
