my company is planning on upgrading our 7018's to 6.0(3) using issu w/ dual sups. I was reading through the upgrade guide (below) and the last step of the dual sup upgrade procedure says to reload both CMPs. What is the purpose of this, and is it necessary?
Also, how does the switch determine if an upgrade is disruptive vs. non-disruptive (both w/ dual sups)? The upgrade guide shows both disruptive and non-dirsuptive w/ dual sup. Wouldn't it always be non disruptive w/ dual sups (issu)?

Hi Bryan
As you may know ISSU process copies new image to your standby sup, upgrades it and then reload, while your active one is working, after it boots up switchover is done and primary sup starts upgrading procss while secondary one os working.
During ISSU CMP is not reloaded - so you need to do it manually to apply an upgrade.
Disruptive upgrade can be done while moving from very old versions or engineering versions to a new one.
Also you can check ISSU impact by running "sh install all impact kickstart ... system ..." - it will use mentioned files and check how upgrae will be done without any impact.
