2511 async serial overruns

Hi all,

I use a 2511 router for reverse-telnetting onto other labor equipments. Many times I experiences that I cannot telnet onto a labor equipment because the line for that equipment is busy. If I do a "show line" on the 2511 I see that the line is busy and the number of overruns is large enough. Only after the second "clear line x" command I'm able to connect the labor equipment. I use the standard console settings on the labor equipments. The 2511 line settings do not contain any special feature. The equipments are used only by myself and I disconnect correctly each time I finish my task on the equipments.

Any opinion what is the reason of the busy state and the large number of overruns?

Hi use the command "no exec" under the line configuration on your 2511.

Something like this.

line 1 16

session-timeout 10

exec-timeout 0 0

no exec

It prevents the router from trying to interpret line noise as valid attempts to launch an exec session.
