I studying for the BCMSN exam and have bought a 3524xl-en switch to use in my lab.I am wondering if it is possible to ugrade the memory/flash on this switch. It currently has 8MB ram and 4 MB flash and been advised not to ugrade to the lastest ios (probably not enough ram/flash). Does anyone know what is the min hardware requirement to use ios 12.3/12.4?

The XL switches cannot run anything past 12.0. You cannot upgrade DRAM/flash on this pizza box switch.

HI Martin,
Even 2950 does not support 12.3/12.4 and the latest release for 2950 is 12.1(22)EA7 released in February 2006.

As you have 8MB of DRAM it is enough for the same and as it is not a modular switch there is no way you can open it and insert more flash and dram.
