3550 loses configuration

Can anyone tell me why a switch would lose it's configuration, returning to "switch" (hostname). I'm sure these switches had their configurtaion saved because they were configured in our lab prior to being installed, and has been working for approximately 5 months.

After configuring the switch, everything works fine again. This has happened to a few different switches over the past couple months.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is it possible that someone deleted the file in flash named config.text?

The 3550 does not really have NVRAM, instead the NVRAM is simulated in flash. If someone deletes the file from flash, it has the same affect as if someone were to erase the config.

I have seen this on some smaller swtiches, when changing the CONFIG REG. After making the changes in your swtich, wr mem. Then reboot switch. If it comes up blank, it may be a CONFIG REG issue.
