Yes, Sundar, you can use a combination of AC and DC power suplies in tha same chassis. The Cisco Catalyst 6500 supports a combination of AC and DC power supplies in the same chassis.

The only guidelines to follow is make sute that if Either of the power supply fails, the other power supply should be enough to support the line cards in the chassis.

You can use power calculator the calculate the power budget and per line card bassis and then plan accordingly to use the power supply.

Hi Amit

Thanks for the reply.

Any docs that are provided by Cisco for the same.

Need to substantiate the same to Customer before working out the option.

Hi Sundar,

Use the power calculator tool and enter the sups and the line card you want to install in customer network it will update you which capacity power supply you have to install in switch chassi.

Hi Ankur,

Thanks for the information.

Any specification do you have/come across for the DC Power cable that gets connected on Cisco Catalyst 6500 with DC Power Supply of 2500 W DC in the Termination Block

Sundara

Hi

The input Amperes requirement would be 40A and you got to have 6 connections for your dual PS.

This doesnt include the grounding which may be 3 ,2 for your PS and one for your chassis.

We do have powered up some of our 6513s with 25 Sqmm cable.

do check out this link for the power requirements for different models of 6500 and also refer the data sheet/prodcut sheet for more info on the cabling standars you need to follow for powering them up..
