DSL Network setup.

Cisco 6015 DSLAM Ios: 12.2(7)DA

Brief Problem /query.

1. Long delay while plug in the Adsl cable to Cisco 827 dsl port.

While plug in/out the Adsl cable (RJ11) to the Cisco 827 Adsl port, I had to wait for around 6-9 minutes for link up status. Could you please advice on any parameter setting to fine tuning this timing. I would like to have the link up asap when cable plug in.

2. How to monitor the real traffic of Dsl link.

I intend to check the real traffic utilization in the Adsl link. I am setting in at 8M downlink and 640k Uplink. Please advice on which command to check this real time traffic utilization.

3. Any Gui web browser support for 6015 Dslam

Any web browser management support for this Cisco 6105 Dslam ? It is more user friendly if it have a GUI interface for this equipment configuration and management.

I can try to answer your questions

1)There is no logic behind why it takes 6-9 mins to get the dsl link up? You can see the led status on fron't panel to see what is going on. Also need to know more about what do you mean but link up?

Does that mean that it takes 6-9 mins to get the ADSL CD LED solid green on the front panel of 827?

What is that LED status during that 6-9 mins before it turns solid green?

Do you see the ADSL Rxd and TxD led blinks once the CD led comes solid green?

When the adsl cd led blinks, it tries to trainup with dslam. If it keeps on retraining like that for 6-9 mins, that means there could be a physical layer issue or above. Try reducing the data rates for trainup.

What does that adsl line is configured for? PPPoA, PPPoE, 1483 bridging?

Based on the adsl line configured, we can use some debug commands to troubleshoot more.

2)sh interface atm0 will give you real time input and output packets rates.

Another useful command is "show dsl interface atm0"

3)To manage dslams via gui, you can use Cisco DSL Manager.
