Hi all
i know it is a native question.
but can any one help me understand how the best effort works
if i have a link of 2Mbps , and customers are sharing this link having differnet speeds from 256K, 512K,1M,and 2M
how will the traffic be distributed among them..??
will they be served in a ration of thier speeds or will FIFO make the first one who uses the link will dominate on others..?
what if the first one who uses the link was the one having 2 Mbps..?? how will other users behave after the link is utilized??
Thanks

Best of my knowledge, I use to say that the bandwidth will be allocated in terms of ratio, like minimum burst and maximum burst. If suppose 2Mbps user comes first use the maximum bandwidth, but any user comes after share the bandwidth by reducing or minimize to minimum burst rate of the first user bandwith. It fully shared bandwidth in terms of ratio. I fully explained by using Traffic Shaping in Cisco IOS command. In terms of QOS, u can prioritize the traffic, and providing the bandwidth for the users.

there is no technique that makes it a ratio shared..
