Hi, We are going to introduce two catalyst 6513 switches to our network, they are gonna perform routing and switching funtions and they are gonna be the core of our network. We need they to run BGP and OSPF, so they are gonna carry IGP prefixes and the full internet table (more than 118000 prefixes). I would like to know about similar experiences with this box and any comment about the stability of the cat 6513 IOS at this time, in order to refine the desing. Thanks ahead for all your comments.

Should work out for your well. Many of Cisco's customers use the 6500 platform to do core type functions. I would only recommend, if carrying full internet prefixes, to ensure you go to atleast 512Mb of memory on the Sup and MSFC. No sense running into a memory allocation issue with your setup. I think you'll be pleased by the performance of these devices.

Are you planning to run CatOS or Native IOS? I am partial to Native but they both work very well.

Hope this is what you were looking for,

Don
