I am preparing a 7204 router for a test and when I log into it the promtp says:

Router(boot)>

Then when I go into enable mode it's:

Router(boot)#

I have a 7204VXR with a NPE-300, a FastEthernet I/O controller, and a Multi-Channel DS3 port adapter.

You (probably) need to reload your IOS.

The (boot)> is a Mini-IOS.

If you have a "system boot" statement in your config, check to see that the image is correct and available.

If you're not using system boot, then reload the OS.

Good Luck

Scott

You are correct. After posting my original message, I noticed that the PCMCIA card wasn't fully seated. I looked fine, but when I tried to locate the IOS, I got a reply that the disk wasn't available. I checked the PC card and it pushed in about an eighth of an inch and the problem went away.

Thanks....

There's a bootflash on I/O controller which contain c7200-boot-....bin release. IOS c7200-pv-....bin will be on pcmcia card (slot0: or disk0:).

You are actually running c7200-boot and not operating system IOS.

Check configuration-register is 0x2102 with "sh version".

Check boot variable with "sh bootvar" and config

boot bootldr bootflash:c7200-boot....bin

boot system flash slot0:c7200-pv-...bin

Save config, check "sh bootvar" and reload.
