bootfile on SUP720

Hey folks,

I have a 6513 with an active and standby WS-SUP720-BASE.

My bootvar config is as follows:

Switch#show boot

CONFIG_FILE variable does not exist

Standby is up

Standby has 458752K/65536K bytes of memory.

I'm seeing the following error in my buffer log:

Aug 11 17:44:36 EDT: %PFREDUN-SP-4-BOOTSTRING_INVALID: The bootfile slavedisk0:s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB2.bin is not present in standby

Aug 11 17:44:37 EDT: %PFINIT-SP-5-CONFIG_SYNC: Sync'ing the startup configuration to the standby Router

Aug 11 18:07:18 EDT: %PFREDUN-SP-4-BOOTSTRING_INVALID: The bootfile slavedisk0:s72033-pk9sv-mz.122-17d.SXB2.bin is not present in standby

Using the Slots on a Supervisor Engine 720

"The Supervisor Engine 720 has two CompactFlash Type II slots. The CompactFlash Type II slots support CompactFlash Type II Flash PC cards sold by Cisco Systems, Inc. The keywords for the slots on the active Supervisor Engine 720 are disk0: and disk1:. The keywords for the slots on a redundant Supervisor Engine 720 are slavedisk0: and slavedisk1:."

My switch is complaining it can't see find the bootfile in slavedisk0:. From what I understand "slavedisk0:" is "disk0:" from the standby SUP's perspective. Is that right? I can't find "slavedisk0:" on my switch doing a "remote command dir all", but this may be normal. Anybody know what's going on here and why I'm seeing this error? Thanks.

Hi

AFAIK slavedisk0: is the one which is installed in the secondary sup720 which should be in standby hot mode.

Try to copy the ios file from the main disk0 to slave disk0: and check for the logs..

Also if you have 2 different versions of IOS files in the supervisor you wont find them in standby hot mode it may be in different mode names stanby cold or some other mode.

you can verify the same using show redundancy command which can display the status of the redundancy state.

Looks like I found the issue. The disk0: slot in my slave SUP is empty. The error message is a little confusing and led down the wrong path, but once I figured out slavedisk0: should be there, and noticed it wasn't ("device not ready") I realized what was going on. Thanks.
