hi
there are already a lot of discussions about this problem on this forum.
Just search for kaaza or also kazaa on this site (top right side of page)
and you will find an answer to that problem.
hope that helps

Kazaa uses TCP port 1214.
Block this port.

Hi Shankar,
Kazaa version 1.0 user 1214. Kaaza version 2.0 using Random ports. We are facing problem with Kaaza version 2.0.
Thank you.
Murthy.

Hmm, I see that Kazaa 2.0 has been designed way different from v1.0
Try putting a sniffer and see what ports are being used. I have heard that it uses UDP 2848 as source port, even if that is blocked, it starts sending TCP requests, and also varies the port (dynamically).
I ll keep you posted if I find anything on this one.
Good question Murthy.

what we do is the following.. but you have to have at least 16 meg flash and 64 meg of ram in a 2621 and the latest IOS..
**********
class-map match-any p2p
match protocol fasttrack
match protocol gnutella
match protocol napster
match protocol http url "\.hash=*"
match protocol http url "/.hash=*"
match protocol kazaa2
policy-map p2p
class p2p
police cir 28500 bc 14400 be 14400
conform-action transmit
exceed-action drop
interface FastEthernet0/1
service-policy input p2p
service-policy output p2p
*********************
it does not drop the connection but make it really slow...if you wanted to drop all the packets just change the confirm-action to drop... should work.. the only thing we have seen that is a problem is that for some reason it interferes with some vpn software programs I do not know why but it does...
Good Luck!
Aaron
