I have a 6500 Sup2/MSFC2 running in hybrid. The Sup boots up correctly however when I "switch console" to MSFC, it was in ROMMON mode. I did a "reset". it showed unable to find the specified image file, and stayed in ROMMON. Then I did "dir bootflash:" and "dir disk0:" (I have a compact flash". Both times it showed unable to access device or wrong device name.
Why the MSFC couldn't identify the devices and how can I get the image to the MSFC's bootflash?
Thanks
Gary

The image must be on the MSFC bootflash, not the Supervisor bootflash.
If you issue a dir /all from within the MSFC, do you have any file system available where to store this image ?

MSFC is in ROMMON mode. When I did "dir bootflash:" , it couldn't access the device. What could be the reason for that?

Do you have an MSFC image stored somewhere ?
Can you post the output from typing 'SET' from the MSFC ?
Can you post the output from typing 'dir all' from the CATOS ?

from memory I had the same issue some time ago. I don't think the Supervisor slot is accessable from msfc ROM mode.
I think you may have to do a x-modem install.
