Here's the problem, I have a 3550 with one WS-G5484 SX GBIC and a 6509 with a WS-X6324-100FX-MM MTRJ blade. Is there a way I can get the the WS-G5484-SX to connect to a port on the WS-X6324 blade? Can the SX GBIC be bumped down to 100Mbs? or are they just completely incompatible?
Thanks.

The speed is port dependent and not GBIC dependent. If the port is 1000BaseX, you cannot change it

OK, I see what you are saying. The 3550 is a 12G switch, so the ports are Gig and cannot be changed.
Thanks.

OK, one last question on this. So there is no way of connecting a port on a WS-X6324-100FX-MM to a GBIC port on a 3550 12G switch? Does Cisco make a GBIC that will talk to a 100FX-MM port?
