Hi All...
Any ideas as to what the following warning messages are indicating.
The mac address in the messages is for the sc0 interface address.
"%SYS-4-P2_WARN: 1/Traffic from permanent host 00:02:16:da:41:ff but seen on incorrect port 2/23"

Try upgrading to 5.5(16) and if you still see issues, I suggest to open a TAC case. 5.5(16) is the latest General Deployment and fixes many bugs including the ones discussed in the following field notice

Many thanks...
I'll upgrade the switch and then keep an "eye" on it.

I'm receiving the same error messages on my Cat4000s running CatOS 7.2(1). The ports are always links to another Catalyst switches (either Cat4000 or Cat3500XL, Cat2900XL).

I have 3 Cat4ks, One is Sup-3, 2 are Sup-2s. The CatOS is 7.2(1) on the Sup-2's. I have Not seen this. Are any of you running VTP for your VLAN updates?
I have VTP configured. The Sup-3 box is the VTP server, the SUp-2's(and a single 3550) are VTP clients.

Yes. I'm running VTP. My Cat4000s are Sup-2 equipped.
But I've not noticed any relation between the error message and VTP....
I can see the error message just occassionaly about once a month.
Why are you asking about VTP?
Regards,
Milan
