Catalyst 2950-24, post security problem

Dear All,

I have instaled a 2950 switch and the customer whant to enable port security on 3 ports with a mac address.

The problem is when i write it comes with the error:

(config-if)#switchport port-security

Command rejected: Not eligible for secure port.

I have loaded det newest ios in it, but it has det error stil.

the ios is : c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-9.EA1d.bin

any idee on this ?

Try typing in "switchport mode access" and then type in the port security command. Also look at the following bug

On the interface(s) you are trying to

turn port-security on first configure 'switchport mode access' - this will

stop the switchport from using DTP to try and negotiate a trunk - which

conflicts with the port-security command.
