How would I clear the counters of an interface like fast ethernet. could this be done globally on all interfaces or a particular module and interface? This would be of particular interest to check incrementing errors like CRC/FCS and alignment errors. Thanks.

I believe you just need to type the following command at the priv exec prompt:
clear counters %interface type% %mod/port%
example:
Switch#: clear counters fa 0/1
This should reset the counters on the interface. Hope this helps.
