Hello, what we trying to do is have an extra Ethernet interface for our DMZ. I added an 1enet to our cisco 2611 router but the router didn't seem to see it. can someone help me what is going on? Thanks

Hello,
the WIC-1ENET is not compatible with the 2611, hence it will not work with your router. Check this document:
WAN Interface Card (WIC) / Platform Hardware Compatibility Matrix for 1600, 1700, 2600, 3600 and 3700 Series Routers

all true, but a nm-1e or nm-4e will work on a 2611.

You likely need a version of code that supports the NM-1E. Can you paste in a show diag and show ver for the router while the card is in and not working?

here is the show version.

Can you put a show diag in here as well captured when the wic is installed in the router? Thanks..Jamie

This card is a wic-1enet card. It is only supported in a 1700 series router. The only options for adding a eth port to your router would be to add a NM-1E or NM-4E card. FE is not supported. I would recommend using a 2620 series or XM series that has FE ports that support dot1q tagging and plug it into a 2950 or 2940 series switch that supports dot1q as well. The reason is that you will be able to create dot1q "subinterfaces". This will allow you to have as many interfaces on the router as you have switch ports..Thanks and good luck....

Thanks for the tips.

A 2611 b.t.w. can already do 802.1q tagging with 12.2 or higher ip plus software.
