Cisco IOS - Update

We have some cisco 2811 and 2801 routers that were purchased about three years ago.

Now we buy some VIC3-2FXS/DID but the problem is that this card just work with IOS c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-20.T.bin and our routers came with

c2800nm-spservicesk9-mz.124-15.T10.bin

What is the correct procedure to update all routers without piracy? We have to buy the new IOS version?

You can download IOS images if you have a valid support contract, like SMARTnet.

Ok, but unfortunately I don't have SMARTNet in any router.

So, the correct procedure is I acquire the SMARTNet for all routers and then updates them?
