I have two 1720 routers, both having a WIC 1 DSU T1 in them. I have a lab that I want these two routers to keep on seperate networks. Is there a way that I can use the WIC's to establish a virtual WAN using only a patch cable? Maybe a certain pinout on the patch cable. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

pins 1&2 to pins 4&5 and vice versa

You can also just use 2 cables back to back. A DCE and a DTE cable. The DCE side will need to be configured to provide clocking with the 'clock rate' command.

I have used the two cable solution before but they were with serial cables. Are there cables that will allow me to utilize the RJ-45 connection?
With the pin configuration of 1&2 to 4&5, I have used this to loopback a T1 card before. Do I just need to create a patch with a config like...

If so, are there any linecode or frame types that I need to implement.
Thanks for your help.
