Flow Control in CAT6500

Dear all,

We would like to enable flow control on CAT6500 switches interface but before that we want to know how its works and you know more about it, So, please let us that where can we find appropriate documentation for the same.

Please provide us the good URLs where we can find good documentation about it for cat 6500 switches IOS and CATOS

Hi Azmath,

Flow control is a feature that Gigabit Ethernet ports use to inhibit the transmission of incoming packets. If a buffer on a Gigabit Ethernet port runs out of space, the port transmits a special packet that requests remote ports to delay sending packets for a period of time. This special packet is called a pause frame. The sender reduces the packet transmission rate upto a significant value and start re-tramsmission of packets after the specified time elapse.
