GB switch v 100MB switch

Hi I have a question regarding GB switch v 100MB switch.

My machine network operates on a 100MB. all network cards are max 100MB.

These are connected to unmanaged 100MB switches.

If I swap out the 100MB switches for GB unmanaged switch, what are the implications?

There is no implication, as the long as the new switch can able to negotiate with 100MB/1000MB ? - check the product document.

GB (Gigabit) that means 10times than Faster Ethernet 100MB speeds

But what I am hoping for an improved network performance.

Will this increase bandwidth, transmission speed etc.?

how will that improve ? - if all the devices still connecting with 100MB only.,

the performance get increase if you have any uplink connecting to Gigabit.

waht documentation you looking for ?  GB switch connecting to 100MB Fasthernet switch  - as i said on GB switch if the port can negotiate with 100MB you can connect (most of them do) - but check product documentation always helpfull before buying.,

the SW fabric support gb or SW port support GW.

If SW port support GW you will not get anything since unmanaged SW still use 100mb 

If fabric you will get high throughput than 100mb.

This is an "it depends" kind of answer.

If hosts continue to run at 100 Mbps, the question is whether the 100 Mbps switch has insufficient PPS, fabric bandwidth and/or buffer resources for your hosts that a Gbps switch MIGHT provide.  If so, yes you might see improved network performance.  How much improvement, would again, also be another "it depends".

As you mention switches, plural, but don't describe your topology, possibly Gbps switches, allowing inter-switch gig links would be most beneficial for your 100 Mbps hosts.
