I am looking for a Gigabit ethernet analyzer software that I can use on a portable laptop. What I really need is a built in frame by frame real time decoder.
Does anyone know of a good portable Gig analyzer. Cost is not an issue.
By the way I currently use Netasyst Network Analyzer and Frontline Ethertest but I don't believe they make a Gig version.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think 'Sniffer Portable High-Speed' should help. You can find some info at http://www.asl-sniffer.co.uk/portable/ge.htm

Network Instruments Observer 9.0 , cost is a lot less than any Sniffer product and it will cover all protocols like VOIP, wireless etc ..... Go to

I agree with Glen, look at Observer 9.0.

Check out Agilent Technologies too. They have a software version that will work with a gig E card. You can download a trial version from their web site. I think it's called Network Analyzer or something.
