Anyone knows what does this msg bring about?

%SYS-4-P2_WARN: 1/Invalid traffic from multicast source address 03:03:03:03:03:03 on port 1/2

I noticed that the distribution switches receiving this warning msg has their cpu driven up to 75% utilization.

hi,

this message indicates that the switch has discovered a mac address which is already in its cam table on a differnet port other than the original one.

issue the show cam dynamic command and then check whether you find thid mac address in the list and if it is there then check whether single host is connected to it or multiple hosts

do let me know the results.

thanks

It's not a valid mac address. The default action for the c4000 is to forward it when it doesnt recognize such an invalid address. So, since it's an invalid MAC, the switch doesnt learn it and put into the cam.
