Could I use two virtual interfaces for two gateway of two internal network, if when there is one connection fail then users no need reconfig IP default gateway?

Thank very much anh best regards.

For better detection of link failure, you should use FR end to end keepalives.

Also here is some link for configuring dial backup through ISDN for a frame-relay cloud.

Thank you very much for your instruction

Is there a way to find out when the primary line fails so you can fix the primary line? We don't want to find out when both lines fail.

Thanks.

1. You can check syslog messages on the syslog server.

2. You can use a monitoring tool like WhatsUp. This will provide yu a GUI that will reflect line fail via a color change of the icons. It can also be configured to send e-mail in case of failure.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

Where do I get the monitoring tool like WhatsUP? I want the it to send me email messages in case of failure.

Thanks.

We're usig WhatsUp Gold for this purpose. Evaluation version can be downloaded from www.ipswitch.com . Also you can find cheaper and less sophisticated tools (as long as all you want is an e-mail in case of ping fails) try www.download.com .

Regards.

Thank you very much for your quick response.

if the BRI is on the same router as the FR connection, you can configure the BRI interface and then add "backp interface" & "backup delay" commands to the Serial interface.

If you are using seperate router, you can use the "dialer watch-group" added to the BRI to watch specific routes
