Image syncronization in cat 6509

Hi,

After we upgraded the image in the primary superisory engine (Sup1A) of cat 6509 and made the secondary supervisory engine sync, we see the image in secondary sup flash as RTSYNC_<image name>.

The size of this is also very less (2MB, instead of 7MB).

I know that the image will be displayed in the secondary supervisory engine as BTSYNC. But what is this RTSYNC?

Regards,

Seetharaman.

Hi Seetharaman :

Supervisor Engine Synchronization may happen during two conditions :

• Synchronizing the Run-Time Image with the Bootstring : This will re-name the image on standby supervisor engine with RTSYNC extention.

• Synchronizing the Boot Images on the Active and Standby Supervisor Engines : This will re-name the image on standby supervisor engine with

BTSYNC.

Following examples will gives multiple scenario's :

Hope it helps.
