Hi,
I have a situation to connect a overlay network with 3550,to the existing 2meg links via 3640,and to core switch 4506.
I was hoping to connect the 2 gig ports to the 4506 and make them a trunk ports, and allowing the Vlan`s within that building. present all the users go via 4506(l3),what will be performance issue of connecting the 3550 as a trunk port and allowing the Vlans of that building ?
or is there any better way of connecting 2 core switches ? core switches will be 4506 ,but for the building Lan USERS will be 3550 as a core switch ?
any help please.
Regards
Sam

You could use isl/802.1q trunking over the ports on the core switches. Here's a document that describes the procedure.
