IOS upgrade on the 3550

Hi All

I am trying to upgrade the 3550 ios from 12.1(8)Ea1b to 12.1(8)Ea1c. I usually use the tar command to extract all of the html files etc, but the 3550 isnt excepting the tar command. Is there an equivelant of the tar command that I can use to get the IOS and CMS files on to the switch.
