IP CEF on a 7206 ATM OC3 interface?

IP CEF is disabled on the ATM interface in my 7206 router. This is an OC3 interface and the IOS is 12.1.16. Is there any reason why I shouldn't turn on CEF switching on this interface? Would I turn CEF on just the main ATM interface or on all the ATM subinterfaces too?

The default switching method for OC3 ATM line cards is fast switching. CEF must be explicitly enabled for each interface.
