Netbuei and VLANS

Hello all, I am trying to connect via netbuei (using Ghost) and I can't connect to another PC on another VLAN. Does anyone know if there are any known issues using GHOST / netbuei through VLANS?

Netbeui is not a routed protocol. Meaning it can not be processed by a router.

Does that mean I need to build a tunnel-int for netbui to encapsulate it within an IP packet? I don't want to do any bridgeing on my vlans? any help here would be appreciated.

Yes, you could use dlsw for this but be aware that this is a bridge over multiple networks.

Yes, you could use a tunnel.

Also keep in mind that a huge amount of data (like disk images) being encapsulated (unencapsulated) at the router will impose a pretty fair load on the system. If the router is fairly loaded under normal operation (or "small" - like a 25xx), you may want to do this during off-hours.

It might be ultimately safer / easier to re-patch the target PC directly to a temporary LAN / VLAN for the purposes of loading / unloading.

Good Luck
