We have two Cisco 2960 switches and two 3560 switches
We recently had fiber run at our Wisconsin plant. We were under the impression they were running from an MDF to each IDF, but it looks like they just daisy-chained it. Can any make sense of this, and recommend a way that this could be used to work the way it should (best practice).
The 12 strand single mode fiber cables were installed as follows:
IDF-1 to IDF-2
IDF-2 to IDF-3
IDF-3 to IDF-4
IDF-4 to IDF-6
IDF-6 to IDF-7
IDF-7 to IDF-1
Each terminates in a patch panel with LC ends. IDF-5 is right next to IDF-4, so we installed a patch cable for that switch to connect to the patch panel in IDF-4.

kjefferson1,
I'm not sure we have enough information to assist on this. You mention that you have 7 IDF locations (or, maybe, effectively 6), but that you only have 4 switches. At which IDF is each switch located? Also, at which IDF is the majority of your other equipment located (a router or servers, for example)?

KJefferson,
I do not see an MDF marked on your floor plan. Is that co-located with one of the IDFs?
