Cisco 3200 Series Mobile Access Router ? Operating altitude: 15,000 ft

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/routers/ps272/products_data_sheet09186a00800f9ecb.html

Most of the data-sheets for othe devices do not list operating altitude but some list up to 2000m.

What is your application ?

Keep in mind that most manufacturers rather keep their specs on the safe side and equipment might work at a higher spec.

Cisco Aironet kit was used at Everest basecamp (17,000ft) and it works. I dont know if they made any modifictaions to the kit or not.

My suggestion to you would be to try a spare router & switch at 4000m and see how it handles. The temperature & humidity is probably more important.

Else contact Cisco directly and ask them for recommendations.

Cheers

HI mips,

many thanks for the response. actualy this is for mining comapany that reside at 13000 ft altitude.

Their network are using hub right now, due to many collision we plan to move to switch network.

my experience is the equiptments (like pc, laptop, etc) some time broken within a week in there.

the highest altitude for cisco switch is 10000 ft.

Hi,

Cat2955 might be the solution.

See http://cco-rtp-1.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps628/products_data_sheet09186a0080180153.html

It declares 9843 ft (3000 m) @ 104° F (40° C) but should be specially designed for harsh environments.

Regards,

Milan
