Hi,
Has anyone deployed Opaque LSA feature of ospf which has type 9,10 and 11 LSA's . If so can you please explain scenario used, here application specific information means is it like using labels in MPLS .
My understanding is that instead of using LDP or TDP we can use OSPF to distribute labels to the OSPF domain.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi.
OSPF Opaque LSAs are used with MPLS TE. They are used to transport info such as link utilization. In a MPLS network with TE RSVP with TE extensions is used for label distribution and tunnel establishment.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the information,
I wanted to know any realtime scenario that has been using this already, is it only MPLS TE that used opaque lsa, or any other applications that use this.
Also I wanted to know when is domain-id and domain-tag configurations required in OSPF.

Nope, only MPLS. The domain-id and domain-tag are also used only for MPLS implementations. So basically, it's only important if you're doing MPLS (which very few organizations are doing).
