We use 6509 switches in our core with 5500's as floor switches. The 6509's both have MSFC's for routing.
Is there an easy way to track down an IP address to a port on a particular switch. Currently, I capture the ARP table listing from the MSFC's to a text file, then associate the IP address with a MAC address, then use SH CAM to track down the MAC address on our infrastructure. A simple "sh me which port this IP address originates from" command would be great.
Regards
Chris

You need to use some greens. (Buy CW2000/LMS).
There you have the automatic correlation between mac- ip-port-device-...-....

You can also write scripts that capture the arp table, store it in a database and you can then run querys (ex. through a web interface). The scripts can also capture mac address from the sh cam and link them to the IP address. If you have the greens, it will be much simpler.
