We ran into a similar problem. It turned out that the Java Plug-In was trying to use the proxy server to get to the CsicoWorks server. To solve this, go to the control panel and double-click on the Java Plug-In. Under the Proxies tab, uncheck the box labeled "Use Browser Settings" and leave all of the addresses blank. Restart the browser. Hopefully, this will solve your problem.

I´m done this, but not work. The message continued.
One interesting thing: If I turn the date for the year 2001, the CiscoView works. But with the year in 2002, the message appear.

I think that the date of Cisco certificate expired!
Try to modify java.policy adding the following row:
grant codeBase "http://servername:1741/CSCOnm/classpath " {permission java.security.AllPermission; };
Restart your browser.
Andrea.
PS. verify for CW2000 updates or patches.

If that's the case there is a patch for CD-One solving it. Note that you need to upgrade to RTM 1.3 if you install this patch. More info at http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-cd-one and http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn16052.shtml.
Do also look at http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn15912.shtml and http://www.cisco.com/warp/customer/770/fn16591.shtml

Hi Andrea,
I modify the java.policy, how you indicate, but isn´t work too.
One thing, I´m using Cisco Works for Windows, and not Cisco Works 2000...
Others suggestions?
Thanks!

This is the message off of the software planner page on CCO.
http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-cd-one
The patch is also available at the same URL.
CCO login required
A security certificate expired on the 6th and needs to be replaced. You can ignore the message and choose to continue and everything should work fine. However, installing the patch should be done.
It is MANDATORY that all customers running CD One, 4th edition, install Patch 1 containing the Java plug-in 1.3.1 before January 6, 2002. Please refer to the README for all details concerning this patch. For customers using nGenius Real-Time Monitor (RTM) 1.2, please order the RTM 1.3 Update Kit. The update kit (CWRTM-1.3-UPT) includes RTM 1.3 and the CD One, 4th Edition Java patches. RTM 1.2 is not compatible with these patch updates and will not be supported by Cisco TAC.
It is also MANDATORY that customers running Solaris servers run the script (modify-package.sh) before installing the CD One, 4th Edition Patch 1. This is to fix the problem (CSCdv71376: patch install fails due to package verification errors). If an attempt was made to install the patch which resulted in a failure of the installation, please first run the script and then re-install the patch

I've installed CiscoWorks2000 on Windows 2000 including the complete bundle of softwares that comes with the LMS. RME is working fine but when I try to open CiscoView I get the message " Please grant permission to launch CiscoView. Quit browser and try again". I tried several of the solutions that have been provided here ( changing date back to 2001, unchecking the 'use browser check box' etc. ) but with no sucess.
Also the work around solution at http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/770/fn17662.shtml suggests that "All customers running CD One, 4th edition download and install the patch containing the Java Plugin version 1.3.1 before January 6, 2002" but I installed CiscoWorks 2000 just a few days back. How should I go about now ?
Can anyone please help me solve this problem.
Regards.

Apply the Java Plug-in patch for CD-One from http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cw2000-cd-one, if you haven't installed already.

There was a CiscoView patch to rectify this as the certificate had expired.
However that has been superceded by the Java cert. expiry issues on 6th Jan 2002.
You really must be on the CD-One patch and accept RTM 1.2 will not be supported or look at buying the 'RTM 1.3' upgrade.

You need to install the Java Plug-in patch for this from CCO. There's already a Field Notice on this issue posted on CCO as well.

It is critical that all CiscoWorks Window 6.0 users install this patch to fix Java certification issues. The symptoms are, after Jan 5th, when launching CiscoView, an error message is displayed that says "Please grant permission to launch CiscoView. Quit the browser and try again."
This patch fixes the problem and provides a 5 year certificate.
Temporary external site for customers with urgent need for patch. It's being posted to CCO quickly.
