Hi Again,
Another switch problem ... I'm running R-PVST in a switched Campus consisting of 3550-SMI and 2950G boxes. I'm inter-connecting the switches using dot1q trunx and I have some PIX firewalls connected to the switches using dot1q trunx also.
Every time I unplug/plug an access port on any VLAN the STP logs a message stating that it is SYNCING with the trunk ports and after a while it logs "fdWhile Expire" for trunx that are connected to PIXs and non-switch boxes. I tried to configure portfast on every port that connects a PIX and the "fdWhile Expire" messages were decreasing. I searched Cisco site and googled for "fdWhile Expire" and there is nothing, the only thing that I got is it means "Forward Delay Timer Expired". It's bugging me up and everytime I change a physical port in a VLAN I lose all nodes connected to this VLAN for about 10 secs.
I'm nearly lost ... I got rid of all of the messages and still only one port causing this expiry, and it is causing the same problem.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Salem.
