SNAP???

I have a problem with an old AS400 box (maybe 15-20 years). We recently upgraded our routing from a route switch module in a Cat 5000 to a 3750 12G switch. The problem is the AS400 box on the network has the correct IP configuration but nobody can access the as400 outside of the subnet that it is on. I can ping the default gateway but can't get out of the subnet...strange right? The only thing I see that is weird is that when I do a sho arp on the router it has the IP information and mac address but instead of using TYPE arpa it uses SNAP. I have read articles on cisco tech support site that says the 3750 does not support snap protocol..again strange and the fact that there is no workaround according to CISCO. Am I missing something? I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Also when I do a traceroute to the IP address on the router it can't find a route to this device.

See arp attached.

Try using a static arp entry on the 3750 using arpa instead of snap . We ran into something like this 2-3 years ago and we ended up using a static arp entry on the router . See if that helps the situation .

I added the static arp entry and still no luck
