Hello i try to put five adrres ip on an interface gigabitethernet of my catalyst 3550, and i can' t do it and i don't know where is my error. This is my instruction i enter on my switch
c3550-12t(config)#interface gigabitethernet 0/1.1
c3550-12t(config-subif)#ip address 192.168.1.254 255.255.255.0
Configuring IP routing on a LAN subinterface is only allowed if that
subinterface is already configured as part of an IEEE 802.10, IEEE 802.1Q, or ISL vLAN.
So what i have to do THANKS.

You cannot configure subinterfaces. If you want to use subinterfaces to trunk and route like the router.. then you need to enable trunking on the port and then create vlan interfaces to route b/w the networks
Here is the URL that might help

3550-12T should have EMI image and can route between VLANs. Create layer 3 VLAN interfaces for each VLAN you have
config terminal
interface VLAN 1
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
interface VLAN 2
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y
.
.
.
interface VLAN x
ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

EMI stands for Enhanced multilayer software image

here another link
Create a vlan.
Connect the router and the switch using a trunk
Confgure vlans on the switch
Configure sub interfaces on the router.
remember to bind the sub interface to a vlan.
Good luck

correa,
The 3550 does both routing and switching. So, in fact, you can do both with the 3550. Here is the link to the document explaining the functions of the 3550s.
javascript:newWin('http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/c3550/12112cea/ol325202.htm#21027')

You should make the port member of a vlan first.
and give it encapsulation and vlan number.

It will *NOT* work on the CAT3550. It's *NOT* supported
