I would like to clarify something about VTP, if a switch is in server mode without a domain name will it use the first domain name it receives from an advertisement and become part of that domain?

Yes. That is one good reason for using VTP passwords in your domain. That way, if you hook up a new switch, it won't sync up with the VTP advertisements.

But that's just my opinion.
