Hi,

it would really help to know which device you are talking about.

Regards

Martin

it's a catalyst 2950 switch. i pinged from a computer connectrd to a non cisco switch which is connected to the 2950.

Hello,

If you are on the 192.168.100.0/24 subnet, you could take the ARP entries and use this link:

http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/index.shtml

to find out which NICs are from Cisco Systems. A bit arduous, but effective.

Not sure what having the address is going to get you if you don't know the password. If you don't know the password then you'll have to go thru the password recovery procedure which requires plugging into the console port on the back of the switch .
