Telnet on a 1605 R

Is there any way to stop the telnet daemon on a 1605 with IOS 12.0.(4)T all together?? I have removed the vty password, but when you run a port scan on the serial interface, it still shows that telnet is listening. Can this be done or should I just block all telnet with access lists on the serial interface and hope know one gets by them??

Thanks in advance for any help....

using the "transport input" commands on your vty's you should be able to get your desired effect.

"transport input non" will cut off all access to the vtys. Make sure you have console/aux access if you do this.

Here is a link describing the transport input command as well as other ways to secure your router.

Hope this helps,
