Can you telnet to a router that sits behind a NAT device? I've got a home lab sitting behind a D-link NAT device. I can open port 23 and direct it to the interface of the router, but get time-out errors when trying to telnet.

If the D-Link can redirect the port properly, there shouldn't be an issue. You may have to do some sniffing on your LAN to see if the traffic is indeed making it to the router.

I telnet to a router from behind a PIX using NAT daily. It can be done with the proper configuration. Check to see if there are any access-lists on the router that could be denying Telnet traffic.
