Hi Gurus,
I got 2 cisco 6509 connected via Trunk carrying few layer 2 VLANS Traffic. Now I have created one new Layer-3 VlanX on one 6509 and I want the traffic of this VLAN pass to another 6509. Can I just simply include this layer-3 vlann into Trunk port and traffic would pass through? OR I need to creat a layer 3 connectivity between 2 switches to pass this traffic?

Make sure the vlan is created at the layer 2 end also and then just add it to your existing trunk and the info from new vlan should flow across the trunk . You don't mention how the trunk is setup , client/server or transparent , if transparent you must allow the vlan across on both sides of the link .

Hi Glen,
Many thanks for the kind response.
May be I explain my scenerio in more detail to have better understanding of situation.
I got two 6509 connected via gigabit, trunking few Layer 2 VLANs across.
Now we intend to provide internet connection to this network. To achieve this I want to connect one of my 6509 to our upstream provider nortel passport switch via ethernet on layer3.I want to make sure that these internet routes are reachable up to 2nd 6509 switch via same trunk port.
Correct me If I am wrong. The way I want to achieve this is by creating layer 3 vlan on Nortel, and both 6509 switches and than trunk this vlan across both 6509.Not sure if its gona work? Any comments pls.
Thanks and best regards.
