Trunking problem

Hi! I got a Cisco 4006 that's connected to a cisco2621 router through a trunk link.

i issued the command "set trunk 3/10 nonegotiate dot1q 1-1005" on the 4006 switch. To verify, i issued command "sh vlan trunk", i noticed that the port 3/10 is not configure with vlan 1.

How do i add in this vlan1 into that trunk port? If i'm not able to achieve this then i will have problem transmitting traffic through one of the subinterface, and i've to configure that vlan in the physical interface for it to pass traffic.

Another question is that, will be there any problem if i add in this vlan1, which i think is the default/native vlan into all the trunk port? Will there be any security issue?

Thanks.

Hi,

Try "set vlan 1 3/10 ".

If this doesnot work then first clear the trunk on the port 3/10 and then set the vlan and then set the trunk on that.

HTH, Please rate if it does.

Hi,

You need to make sure that it is routable out of your enterprise network and not in use anywhere int the network. you can make it managment vlan to put all your devices in vlan 1 to have access all the time even if the switch reloads or trunking goes down because bydefault it will always be there in switch and by default all ports also will in vlan 1.

please rate if it helps
