Using CB-policing on C6509 Hybrid

Hi all,

I'm trying to apply CB-policing onto the MSFC3 SVI, but w/o success.

The unit is a 6509 w/ Sup 720, MSFC3 & PFC3B, running in hybrid mode. Sup 720 is running 8.3(4); while MSFC3 is running 12.2(17d)SXB6.

I have many SVIs configured on the MSFC3 as gateways for each vlans on the switch. I applied Class-based policing to one of the SVIs, but it doesn't seem to be working.

My understanding is, the CEF FIB from the MSFC will be downloaded to the PFC, whereby the PFC will do the L3 switching, thereby offloading the MSFC cpu of the routing/switching load

So, by applying the service-policy on the SVI created on the MSFC, i don't think traffic really takes the path through the MSFC at all, and thus not get policed by the policy.

Is there any way to workaround this? Or is my understanding out?

btw, my simple config:

!

policy-map 10mbps

class class-default

police 10000000 1250000 1250000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop

!

interface Vlan10

bandwidth 10000

ip address x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

load-interval 60

service-policy input 10mbps

service-policy output 10mbps

end

!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You can configure policing on the Supervisor(CAT OS)
