When I updated my version of the Java2 Runtime Environment to version 1.3.1 the visual switch manager interface began prompting me for a password repeatedly. By reverting to an older version of Java2 located on CCO the problem was resolved. However, another package with a web interface that I frequently access REQUIRES the newer version. What can I do? I've tried both the US & International versions of JRE.
A very big preemptive THANK-YOU to whoever can offer me a solution to this major source of irritation.

Youll probably have to wait for a new version of VSM that supports JRE 1.3.1. Have you talked to Cisco about it yet?

You need to have an enable password on the switch. When you are prompted for the username & password, use the enable password as both the username and password.

Just a minor security tip: you shouldn't need to type anything in the user field. The secret/enable password in the password field will give you access.

I've noticed similar JRE problem. My fix was to use the international version of JRE 1.3.0 from Sun.
It was also necessary to use a user account with enable privileges and ip http authentication local.

I have a similar problem. But, when I reverted back to JRE 1.3.0, it is throwing me another message box, which says "VISUAL SWITCH MANAGER HAS DETECTED A CHANGE IN THE DEVICE'S HARDWARE CONFIGURATION AND NEEDS TO REDRAW THE DEVICE" - This goes on forever.
Any Solution??
