On VLAN 1 we have clouple of novel & windows server, I have recently created VLAN2 & moved some of the machines into VLAN2 now VLAN2 machines can't access the novel resources. How can I enable VLAN2 to access novel machines on VLAN1.

Ahmed,

The reason your VLAN2 machines cannot communicate with VLAN1 machines is because VLANs are logical broadcast domains - traffic is normally confined within the respective VLANS.

So if you want your devices to remain on different VLANs (1 and 2) you need to configure a level 3 switch or a router to route traffic between the VLANS. Otherwise if you urgently need your VLAN2 machines to access the Novell machines, pop them back on VLAN1 until you have set up the necessary routing.

Cheers,

Josef.

I my case I have router to route between Vlans, what is the configuration on router, can you please advice me.

Thanks

Khaleel
