How can i get vlan traffic over multiple routed switches ?
I read something about GRE tunnel, but can not find documentation over a GRE tunnel on L3 (3550) switches.
The problem is that we want to place a server on a sublocation in the same vlan than a server on the main location. Between these locations are L3 switches in routing mode, so it´s not possible to make an L2 trunk.
Kind regards,

Perhaps IRB (Integrated routing and bridging) is not the best solution, but it works depending upon your needs and is really functional...rgds

Any switch running in L3 mode, can still make L2 trunks and will solve the purpose. Let me know what L3 switches you have and I shall update you about their commands and fucntions.

Hi,
Thanks for helping me out.
We use the following switches 6509 (IOS), 3550 and 2950.
6509---L3----3550------L2----2950
Between the 6509 and 3550 is a L3 link with ip address and no switchport. VLAN´s are configured on the 6509. Because there is a L3 link between the 6509 and 3550, vlan information is not available on the 2950.
The problem is that we want the vlan information available on the 2950.
